Waliye Massar app for parents: what schools still need
If you run a private school in Morocco, the Waliye Massar application gives parents free access to grades, absences and schedules, but only for pupils whose school sits inside the ministry’s Massar framework. It is a records window, not a school’s everyday communication channel. Announcements, event notices, meeting bookings and transport or canteen updates still need a home, and a school without another channel may fall back on a WhatsApp group.
Waliye Massar vs a school app at a glance
| Question | Waliye (Massar parent space) | A school communication app |
|---|---|---|
| Who pays | Free, funded by the ministry (Wizaide) | Subscription or free offer, depending on the vendor |
| Typical cost | Free to parents | One vendor quotes 8,000 to 25,000 DH a year for named tools, or 7,900 DH setup for an Odoo pack (Oasis Technocloud) |
| Who is covered | Pupils of public schools and private schools conventioned with the ministry | Any school that signs up, conventioned or not |
| Grades, absences, schedules | Yes, documented | Depends on the app; often entered separately by the school |
| Teacher messaging | Reported by one source, absent from another | Core feature in most apps |
| School announcements and events | Not listed among its documented features, apart from an evaluation calendar and exam notices | Core feature in most apps |
| Bus, canteen, meetings | Not listed | Varies widely by product |
The right-hand column describes a category of tools rather than one product. The sections below explain what each row means for a private school, and the verdict comes at the end.
The Waliye Massar application for parents: what it actually gives
Massar has four spaces: Massar Service for administrators, Moutamadris for pupils, Waliye for parents and Massar Prof for teachers entering grades (Wizaide glossary). It was deployed in public institutions from 2013 and then “progressively extended to private conventioned establishments”, according to the same source.
For parents, a secondary guide lists grades and performance trends, justified and unjustified absences, weekly schedules, administrative documents such as report cards and exam notices, a calendar of upcoming evaluations, configurable SMS or email alerts, and multi-child accounts (Wizaide guide, July 2026). A second aggregator confirms the core: parents follow grades, absences and remarks with their national ID (Simul.ma).
That is a solid list for what it is. Grades come from teachers who enter them in Massar, and parents see the result without paying anything, per Wizaide. A private school has no reason to replace it.
Is Massar mandatory for private schools?
One vendor describes Massar as “mandatory for all private schools” (Oasis Technocloud), while the Wizaide glossary speaks of conventioned private establishments. Press reporting shows why registration matters: in September 2025, Le360 described unauthorised centres enrolling pupils without registering them on Massar, and a Casablanca sixth-grade pupil who could not sit final exams as a result (Le360). The ministry told the paper that some support centres have no authorisation to enrol children at all. Ask your regional academy this week to confirm your school’s Massar status in writing.
Who it does not reach
The same guide says, in substance, that a child enrolled in a private school not conventioned with the ministry will not appear in Waliye. For such a school, Waliye is not a place where its pupils’ records show up, and even a conventioned school cannot use it to say something the ministry’s records do not hold.
Application école privée Maroc: what parents still expect from the school
Waliye answers “how is my child doing in the ministry’s records”. It does not obviously answer “is the bus late today”, “is Friday a half day” or “when can I see the form tutor”.
Waliye is built around the ministry’s records: marks entered by teachers, absences logged, documents issued. A private school also sends things the ministry never issues, such as a change of pick-up time, a parents’ evening, a bus delay or a trip permission slip. Those messages belong to the school, and Waliye’s documented features include no way to broadcast them to a class or a whole school.
On teacher messaging, the sources disagree: one lists “direct messaging with teachers and school administration”, another mentions none. Open a real parent account and look before building a process on either assumption.
A WhatsApp alternative for Moroccan schools: the stopgap most use
When the official portal does not carry the school’s own messages, a school may fill the gap with a WhatsApp group per class. It costs nothing and many parents already have the app. The trade-offs can include important notices sitting between other chatter, personal numbers circulating, and no record of who has seen what. Our cost comparison of WhatsApp alternatives and the case for why WhatsApp struggles in schools go through those trade-offs in detail, and the CNDP checklist for school apps in Morocco covers the data-protection side of any tool you pick.

School management software in Morocco for 2026: what it costs
Waliye costs parents nothing, and the Wizaide guide warns that a third-party site charging for Massar access is a scam. Alternatives are priced differently. One vendor’s July 2026 comparison quotes SchoolManager at 10,000 to 25,000 DH a year, ProNote at 8,000 to 20,000 DH a year and an Odoo education pack at 7,900 DH setup, and describes Massar as reporting only (Oasis Technocloud). Those are one vendor’s figures, so confirm them with a quote.
A Moroccan vendor, SchoolApp, lists an internal messaging tier with grades, absences and a mobile app, and offers a one-month free trial (SchoolApp). It also lists financial follow-up in a higher tier. If fee handling matters to you, check each product on that point, because BeeNet does not collect fees, invoice or process payments.
Oasis says most schools rely on paper and Excel, which costs nothing in licences but takes staff time, and puts administrative time on repetitive tasks at 25 to 30 hours a week.
Language is part of the choice (تطبيق تواصل المدرسة والأسرة المغرب)
Moroccan families read French, Arabic or both, and a school notice that arrives in only one language leaves some parents guessing. A school app should let you write once and reach each family in the language it reads. Test that on a sample message for any tool, Waliye included, rather than trusting a brochure. Our guide to school communication apps that work in Arabic covers what to look for.
A six-point checklist before you choose
1. Reach. Does it include every family, whether or not the school is conventioned? In practice, this looks like asking the vendor to load ten real parent contacts and sending a test message to all of them on day one.
2. Announcements with proof of receipt. Can you target one class or grade and see who has acknowledged it? In practice, a Sunday-evening notice about Monday’s early closing goes to the affected classes only, and the office checks who has acknowledged it at 7:30 am instead of phoning every family.
3. Absences that reach parents the same morning. In practice: roll call by the teacher, a notification to the parent within the hour, and an absence note sent back from the app, so the secretary stops running a phone round after 9 am. See how attendance tracking with parent notifications works in practice.
4. Meetings and events. A parents’ evening with bookable slots and a calendar entry beats a paper slip. In practice, the school opens slots two weeks ahead, parents book their own, and the office chases only the families who have not.
5. Language. French and Arabic for the same message. In practice, the head writes the weekly letter once on Thursday and each family sees it in its own language.
6. Bus and canteen. Decide whether you need them in the app at all. If you do, ask any vendor to show the screen a parent would actually use, not a brochure line. In practice, ask for a demo of a bus-delay alert and a menu change, and judge it from a parent’s phone.
Verdict: Waliye for records, a school app for everything else
Treat Waliye as the ministry’s record of grades and absences, and the school app as the channel for what the school itself says to families. They run side by side. This guide compares tool coverage only; it does not show that any app improves engagement, attendance or results. BeeNet does not connect to Massar, so any grade or absence still has to be handled in each system, and you should plan for that duplication rather than discover it in October.
Whichever tool you pick, pilot it with one or two classes before the next term starts and decide by the end of that pilot. Our guide on how to choose a school communication platform sets out the questions to ask during that pilot.
BeeNet is one option for the second layer. It offers targeted announcements and group messaging with acknowledgment tracking, parent-teacher meeting booking, a shared calendar with events, and absence tracking with parent notifications, with message translation between languages. See announcements, parent-teacher meetings and the calendar.
If you run a private school in Morocco, BeeNet’s founding-schools offer has 15 places, with BeeNet free until 31 August 2027 and then a founding price locked for 3 years.
