ENT Pronote: Why Parents Have Two Logins (and the Fix)
A parent signs in to the regional ENT, reads a news item, then has to find Pronote again to check an absence. Across the nine official guides, school notices and publisher pages we reviewed, ENT Pronote access works as a chain rather than a single tool. The parent signs in with a national EduConnect account, lands in a regional or departmental ENT, and opens Pronote from a menu. The ENT and Pronote each carry their own messages and notifications as well. So the same parent can feel they hold two logins, and the school needs to say clearly which channel is the official one.
This guide explains how the pieces connect and what the sources show. It then sets out how a director can cut the number of doors parents use instead of adding another.
| Area | Entry door described | Source date | Source type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Île-de-France | Monlycée (monlycee.net), then Pronote | 2021 and June 2026 | Académie notice; school page |
| Hauts-de-France | EduConnect, then the regional ENT | November 2021 and September 2025 | Académie guide; DSDEN page |
| Occitanie | EduConnect, then the regional ENT, then Pronote | June 2026 | Independent guide (not official) |
| Val-de-Marne | EduConnect, then the departmental ENT, then “Scolarité” and “PRONOTE” | September 2025 | School notice |
How ENT Pronote access works: three layers, not one product
The account belongs to EduConnect
The national framework for ENTs treats the ENT as a service, not as the place where identity is created. The ministry’s July 2024 technical annex states that “l’ENT n’est pas fournisseur d’identité mais seulement fournisseur de service” and names a national gateway for students and their guardians (SDET annexe opérationnelle 2024). In plain terms, the account belongs to EduConnect. The ENT and the services behind it borrow it.
A school guide from the Académie de Normandie describes the result. Each guardian has one Éducation nationale account that opens the teleservices, the regional ENT and Pronote, and Pronote is picked from the ENT’s “Application” menu (Collège Paul Verlaine guide).
Pronote ENT connexion for parents: the paths that exist
The sources document three entry routes.
- Through the ENT. Index Éducation, the publisher of Pronote, says that “la connexion à PRONOTE peut également passer par un ENT” (Index Éducation documentation).
- Directly through the school’s Pronote portal. The same page refers to the portal address plus personal credentials issued by the institution.
- Through the mobile app. The Normandie guide warns families who go straight into Pronote from the app to keep their EduConnect identifiers safe, because they will need them later for other school services.
None of these is wrong. The friction starts when a school or a region publishes all of them without saying which one to use first.
ENT HDF, Île-de-France and Occitanie: one pattern, different doors
The regions share the logic but differ in what parents are told to do.
ENT HDF and Pronote in Hauts-de-France
An Académie de Lille guide describes the Hauts-de-France ENT as linked to EduConnect, so that parents can attach all their children with a single account. The same guide shows that the ENT has its own channel: it lists a teacher message, a school news item and a blog post as things a parent sees there (Académie de Lille guide). The guide dates from November 2021 and the excerpt we reviewed does not mention Pronote, so it describes the ENT side only.
More recently, a DSDEN de l’Oise page updated in September 2025 gives families two separate tutorials, one for EduConnect and one for the ENT mobile app (DSDEN Oise). The authority itself documents more than one entry point.
ENT Île-de-France and Pronote through Monlycée
In Île-de-France the region chose a unified approach. A notice from the Académie de Paris says that since the rentrée 2021 Pronote is reachable from monlycee.net, so one ENT identifier is enough for Pronote and the ENT’s pedagogical tools (Académie de Paris notice). A lycée’s June 2026 page describes the same setup: Pronote opened from the regional portal without a separate sign-in step, with an official app using the same credentials as the web version (Lycée Charles de Gaulle).
ENT Occitanie and Pronote
For Occitanie we found no official document, only one independent guide, so read it as one description rather than regional policy. It describes the ENT as the entrance, Pronote as the place for school life (grades, absences, lateness, skills), and sign-in running through EduConnect “même si l’utilisateur a l’impression de rester sur le portail régional” (Trajectio). The same guide lists a messagerie among the ENT’s services.
A departmental example
In Val-de-Marne, a college’s September 2025 notice gives four steps: activate EduConnect, open the departmental ENT, choose EduConnect authentication with the guardian profile, then click “Scolarité” and “PRONOTE” (Collège Paul Vaillant-Couturier). Four steps is a reasonable path. It becomes a burden when a parent has to rediscover it each term.
Where the “two logins” feeling comes from
The sources let us name the surfaces a parent can meet:
- an EduConnect account, which holds the identity;
- the ENT, with its own news feed, notifications and messagerie;
- Pronote, with discussions, surveys and a carnet de correspondance, as the Normandie guide lists;
- sometimes a separate mobile app for the ENT and another for Pronote.
If a teacher writes in Pronote, the head posts news in the ENT and the school also sends a circular by email, a parent has three places to check. The sources do not say these inboxes are shared, so a school that has not checked should not assume they are.
No source measures how many parents are confused, how often they abandon a login, or how much support time it costs. The pattern here is the number of doors schools publish. The sources also describe the public-sector setup in collèges and lycées; private schools should map their own chain with the audit in Step 3.
Which channel to declare official, and how to cut logins
What follows is our recommendation. We found no source that says what a school must declare official.
Step 1: Name one channel per type of message
Choose where each category lives and write it down. A workable split puts grades, absences and homework in Pronote, and everything else (circulars, trips, meetings) in one named place.
In practice, this is a half-page “Où trouver quoi” sent at the rentrée and repeated in the first newsletter. Three lines, one per message type, each naming a single tool, with the same text pinned wherever parents look. For example:
Notes, absences, devoirs : Pronote Circulaires, sorties, réunions : [the channel you name] Urgences : téléphone de la vie scolaire
Step 2: Give parents one entry point
Tell families one starting door and stick to it. In a region where Pronote opens from the ENT, that door is the ENT; where a school uses the direct portal, it is the portal. Mention the mobile app only as an optional shortcut, and repeat the warning from the Normandie guide: keep the EduConnect identifiers.
Put one QR code and one URL on the welcome letter, then add a short reminder in the first week of October and again before the first bulletin.
Step 3: Remove, do not add
Before adding any channel, list what parents already juggle and retire one. If two channels send the same information, close one and say so in writing. For the gradebook side, see our Pronote alternative comparison.
The vie scolaire team can do this in a one-page audit this month: list every channel, who reads it and what it carries, then announce the retired one before the end of the first term.
Next step
The requirement is short: one declared channel per message type, one entry point, and no new login unless an old one disappears. Run the channel audit before the end of October, and send the “Où trouver quoi” note by the first parent meeting.
If your school needs a place for circulars and parent-school messaging that sits alongside Pronote rather than replacing it, BeeNet is one option. Announcements and messaging can be targeted by class or group, with acknowledgment tracking for announcements, as described on our announcements and messaging pages. BeeNet does not connect to Pronote or the ENT, so parents would keep those logins for grades and add one for school messages. Use it only for circulars and class messages you cannot keep in the ENT.
If you run a private school in France, you can also look at BeeNet’s founding-schools offer: 10 places, BeeNet free until 31 August 2027, then a founding price locked for 3 years.
